Joan Miró

Histoire D’une Statuette

Histoire D'une Statuette presented twelve sculptures by Joan Miró from the Pierre Matisse Collection, kindly loaned by the Acquavella Gallery in New York. Alongside, the exhibition included an important collection of seven gouache works, twenty-two writing excerpts and six previously unpublished photographs by Miró. The collection belonged to Lous Broder -  who collaborated closely with Miró from 1956 until his death in 1970 - and reveals a dialogue between the artist’s sculptural and pictorial work. Both the Galerie Pierre Matisse and the Galerie Maeght were depositories of Joan Miró's sculptural work. The selection exhibited is part of one of the most important collections in the world, known not only for undoubted quality but also for its provenance and history.
